Psychotherapy serves the purpose of assisting children, adolescents and their parents regarding psychological problems in all stages of development and aspects of life. Its goal is to alleviate existing problems in a long-term manner.
In order to achieve that goal, we offer psychotherapy for children and adolescents in individual settings with supplementary consultation for parents or legal guardians, family therapy, group therapy, aid conferences and psychosocial networking.

Art Therapy
We also offer assistance to children and adolescents who find it hard to express themselves verbally. They are encouraged to express themselves through drawings, paintings or modelling clay, instead.

At the beginning, an initial consultation takes place together with the child or only with the carer(s), depending on the agreement. This is usually followed by a child psychological assessment. Depending on the treatment plan, individual, group or family therapies are then carried out. These usually take place once a week.
If the legal requirements are met, the costs of psychotherapy can be covered by the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund. If the costs cannot be covered by the Vienna Regional Health Insurance Fund, psychotherapy can be offered at low cost as part of university teaching.
Procedure:
- Initial consultation and psychodiagnostic examination
The initial consultation takes place together with the child or only with the carer(s), depending on the agreement. This is followed by a thorough psychodiagnostic examination. - Therapy planning
The examination results and the treatment plan based on them are discussed with the child or adolescent and the legal guardian(s) at a further appointment. - Psychotherapy
Depending on requirements, individual psychotherapy for the child with accompanying counselling for the caregiver(s), family psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, psychotherapy for parents, etc. are offered. The centre is run by experienced psychotherapists with special expertise in working with children and adolescents.
